CrossFit Games Open 2015 Starts This Saturday Morning

CROSSFIT GAMES OPEN 2015 - Important Information:

Attn: Anarchists! This Friday 27th February at 12noon the first Open WOD 15.1 will be announced on the CrossFit Games website & will also be posted on our blog & Facebook page immediately following. 

This will continue each Friday for the next 5 weeks with WODs 15.2, 15.3, 15.4 & 15.5 being announced each week. 

We currently have 21 registered with a couple days remaining & we will be running judged workouts each Saturday morning for the next 5 weeks commencing at 6am. 

As in previous years, from Wednesday there will be a booking sheet in reception for you to secure your 30min time slot prior to Saturday.

Depending upon how many Judges we get we will be running 3 to 4 athletes at a time through each WOD so that we can wind it all up by mid morning if possible. Times may vary a little depending on the actual WOD announced, but we expect that this may only be by 5-10mins if at all, so we are allowing 30mins each & will adjust if need be. 

The box will be open from 5.30am Saturday for pre WOD mobility & warm up but you MUST be warmed up in the heat prior & ready to start your WOD at your time to avoid delays. 
Games WOD Briefing commences at your booked time slot then its 3.2.1...GO!

If for any reason you cannot complete your WOD on any given Saturday, it is your responsibility to arrange with a judge to have your workout verified, at a time that suits you both. 

WOD scores need to be submitted & finalised by 10am Tuesday so you must have completed your workout prior to this time. 

Each week you will have Friday after 12pm, Saturday morning, all day Monday and early Tuesday morning to complete your workout. 

The more Judges we can get the better guy’s. 
Currently our Registered Judges at CrossFit Anarchy are: Tony, Shannon, Carmen, Roxy and Chris at this stage, with a couple others hopefully doing theirs soon too.

**Please note: There will be NO normal Saturday morning CrossFit class at 7am. 
However...Those who are not participating in the Open, are more than welcome to still come and do the WOD but there will be no formal class run.**

What:
The CrossFit Open is a world wide CrossFit competition where 5 workouts are released over 5 weeks. Workouts are completed and judged at a CrossFit affiliate and your score is entered into a Leaderboard where you can compare your score against your mates, your affiliate, your state your country or even the world.

Why:
The CrossFit Open is FUN and is a great way to test your fitness. It provides focus to your training, pushes you to your limits and creates a great social environment where everyone gets around each other to support and encourage the community of CrossFit.

Who:
EVERYONE!
The CrossFit Open is primarily about testing you against yourself – discovering what you are truly capable of.
This year for the first time there is a ‘scaled’ division which will have reduced loading or less challenging movements making the Open even more accessible to those newer to the sport but still want to participate.

When:

The 2015 CrossFit Open runs from 27th February to 31 March (Australian time).
We will be running the workouts as the WOD on the following dates:
15.1: Saturday 28th February 0600-1000
15.2: Saturday 7th March 0600-1000
15.3: Saturday 14th March 0600-1000
15.4: Saturday 21st March 0600-1000
15.5: Saturday 28th March 0600-1000
This will be your opportunity to be judged so that you can enter your score into the leaderboard.

Fitness Feb Fundraiser for Troy Hewkins

CrossFit Anarchy's Olympic Lifting Coach and resident CrossFit athlete Troy Hewkins has been working hard towards his Fitness Feb goal of running or rowing 100km to raise much needed funds for some close friends of his who are living in India educating and working with underprivileged and orphaned children.

He's got people sponsoring him per km and he's had others make a single donation towards this cause...so we've decided to help him out on a larger scale and raise some money for the cause by holding a social dinner gathering and auction.

* Wednesday 18th February 6pm @ Bendigo Stadium
* 6pm CrossFit session cancelled in lieu of fundraiser - Open Gym 6pm - 7pm ONLY
* Troy's Fundraiser gets 50% rebate of all Adult meals purchased
* RSVP sheet on reception counter, names and numbers are compulsory


We need as many people as possible to come along to the Bendigo Stadium next Wednesday 18th February at 6pm and enjoy a meal with friends as Troy receives 50% rebate from EVERY Adult meal purchased on the night, from 20 people to 200!! Children are welcome however it is only main meals that count toward the rebate...therefore we need numbers to make this count!! The 6pm CrossFit session on Wednesday will be Cancelled in lieu of this event, you are all required in the bistro, not the box on that night!!

RSVP for this night is essential as we need to let the Bendigo Stadium know numbers by Monday. There is an attendance list on the counter at the box, you MUST record your name if you will be attending and having a meal. Tell your friends, tell your family and bring them all along as EVERY meal counts towards Troy's tally!!

We will have some fun small auctions on the night as well as donation tins on the tables...let's show our support for all the hard work Troy is doing for this cause in February!!

Our January 2015 Athlete Of The Month is Belle Harwood!!!

Once again I am very proud to announce another very deserving Athlete Of The Month Award - This one goes out to Belle Harwood!!!
Every now and then as a coach and mentor, you meet a person who displays a certain level of natural ability and potential athleticism in a chosen sport or endevour. And you look at this person and wonder "If I could nurture this person, if I could guide, coach and mold this young person, give them the tools knowing they have the drive and enthusiasm, how far would they actually go in their chosen sport ???
I'm sure each and everyone who meets Belle agrees that she shows a level of maturity way beyond her years and so it's easy to forget that this teenager is only 15 years old! A testament to her awesome parents in Pete and Kylie Harwood.
Belle is a very passionate and enthusiastic young person who puts her heart and soul into all that she takes on. And this shines out in all that she does, be it her music, her artistic drawings or in her sport of CrossFit!
Belles growth in the sport of CrossFit has been nothing short of amazing. She first stepped foot inside the Anarchy Box as part of the Crusoe College Match Fit program run by her Teacher Kane Cook during the middle of last year. And from day one she showed a raw untapped potential and level of energy and drive that I knew could be taken much further.
She competed in her first CrossFit partner comp just recently and proved she has the heart to match her enthusiasm.
Congratulations Belle you are an inspiration to many of us and will continue to be for many years to come!

DUE TO THE LARGE NUMBER OF ANARCHISTS COMPETING IN THE OPEN, FRIDAY FLICKS HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!!

CrossFit Anarchy are organising a social night at Sutton Grange Winery's Friday Flicks!

Friday March 6th - Come and See "THE CASTLE"  on the Big Outdoor Screen - from 6pm, movie starts approx 8:30pm at sundown.

Tickets are only $10.
BYO picnic tea or BBQ meat and sealed non-alcoholic beverages, picnic rug or low level seating.
Full range of Sutton Grange wines available to purchase as well as beers and cider, soft drinks, juices and mineral water, popcorn, choc tops and chocolates also.

With enough interest a free bus transfer will be organised for pick up and drop off.
